Welcome to the IMW!

We are pleased to welcome Khanh Toan Vo Dan as a research associate at the IMW!

"Introducing myself" - The exclusive IMW interview with our new colleague.

The Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMW) welcomes Mr. Khanh Toan Vo Dan to the Chair of Machine Elements & Design Theory (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Armin Lohrengel) on 01.04.2025. To get to know the new colleague better, we have conducted a short interview for you.

1) Short & sweet: Tell us something about yourself!

  • Khanh Toan Vo Dan: I'm originally from Osnabrück, where I did my A-levels. I then moved to Clausthal to study mechanical engineering - partly because I wanted to become a bit more independent. In Clausthal, I not only like the course itself, but also the international character of the city, the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful countryside. I also like to do sport to balance out my everyday studies. Thanks to the wide range of sports on offer at the university, you really get your money's worth here.

2) Way2IMW: How did you become aware of the IMW & what led you to us?

  • Khanh Toan Vo Dan: I completed both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at TU Clausthal. During this time, I had regular points of contact with the IMW. Be it through courses or as part of my research work, which I also wrote at the institute. As my apartment is right next door, I was often on site to study or simulate. Over time, the IMW became almost like my second home.

3) Work@IMW: Which areas of responsibility (research & teaching) will you be in charge of at the IMW?

  • Khanh Toan Vo Dan: I came on board through a project and don't have a defined field of research at the moment. The project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the University of Göttingen, focuses on the development of a prototype that uses hot air and superheated steam to produce insulation boards from wood fibers and natural binders in a fully continuous process.

4) Motivation³@IMW: Name three keywords that you bring to the IMW as your own motivation.

  • Khanh Toan Vo Dan: My three keywords are: Personal development, enjoyment of teaching, and active design.

I want to continue to develop professionally and personally, pass on what I have learned in my teaching, and play an active role in shaping projects and processes.

Thank you very much for the interesting interview and the brief introduction. We wish you a successful start and look forward to an exciting collaboration at the IMW!

If you are also interested in working at the IMW, please contact us directly or via our job advertisements on the IMW homepage:https://www.imw.tu-clausthal.de/ueber-uns/stellenangebote - We look forward to hearing from you!
