Clausthal University of Technology has been selected by an independent jury alongside six other universities in the state for this funding from the "zukunft.niedersachsen" program. The university in the Harz region will receive 1.07 million euros to implement TUC-Stream. The aim is to equip students and researchers with more entrepreneurial know-how in order to launch science and research-driven spin-offs.
"We are delighted with this success. Promoting the transfer of innovative research to business and society and sparking a start-up spirit is a fundamental concern for us. With TUC-Stream, we at Clausthal University of Technology are investing in the development of innovative spin-offs and thus in the entrepreneurial success of our region. And for our students, the project means an attractive additional qualification," says University President Dr. Sylvia Schattauer.
TUC-Stream also takes international students into account
What is being set in motion with TUC-Stream? The measures include
- the qualification of teaching staff to raise awareness of start-ups,
- the integration of start-up projects into teaching and
- sensitizing researchers to the utilization of results.
The aim is also to set up a "Norms and Standards in the Innovation and Start-up Process" competence centre and to professionalize start-up networks and support (including venture capital). "We also address international students when supporting start-up activities. All of these measures contribute to sustainably strengthening the start-up dynamic at Clausthal University of Technology," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. The Head of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering developed the application together with the Center for Digital Technologies (DIGIT). TUC-Stream is focusing on the circular economy and digital transformation as key topics.
On the one hand, the planned activities take up the results of previous projects (EXIST project "Gründungskultur@TUC" and "HIT Digital GreenTech"). On the other hand, they complement the ongoing initiatives to expand start-up advice and support (joint start-up service between Clausthal University of Technology and WiReGo). The further development concept also takes into account current challenges such as the increasing number of international students in the STEM field. The results are being incorporated into the current transformation process of teaching and research at Clausthal University of Technology and can be effectively consolidated in the long term through new and modified structures and areas of responsibility.
