International exchange in Madrid: The IMW at the OIPEEC Conference 2026

The Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMW) at Clausthal University of Technology is a strong driving force in international rope research. With two scientific contributions, our team presented current research results at this year's OIPEEC (International Organization for the Study of Ropes) conference in Madrid

OIPEEC is considered the world's leading platform for scientific exchange on wire and fiber rope technologies. The fact that the IMW was represented with two technical presentations underlines the international visibility and depth of our expertise in the field of rope and rope drive technology.

Our scientific contributions at a glance

The presentations focused on current challenges in multilayer winding and the material properties of modern fiber ropes:

  • Bristol Bryan Lontsi Nongni and Armin Lohrengel: "Impact of changes in rope properties and altering on a multi-layer rope drum wound with fiber rope", published in: Proceedings of the OIPEEC Conference 2026. ISBN: 978-1-7336004-1-5.
  • Max Stök and Armin Lohrengel: "Evaluation of calculation approaches for multi-layer wound fiber rope drums", published in: Proceedings of the OIPEEC Conference 2026. ISBN: 978-1-7336004-1-5.

Bridging the gap between theory and practice

In addition to presenting its own research results, the conference in Madrid provided an excellent opportunity for inspiring exchanges with experts from all over the world. The discussions on site confirmed the relevance of our research approaches for the industry and the further development of modern lifting technology.

A big thank you goes to the organizers of OIPEEC for the excellent organization of the conference and to our dedicated rope technology team. Their innovative spirit continuously puts Clausthal University of Technology's research on the international stage.
