Designers of tomorrow honored

The best project work in the Machine Elements course was awarded a prize by the Scientific Association of the Institute at the beginning of the winter semester.

The drive train of a suspension railway, consisting of the components motor shaft, gearbox, brake, clutch, and braked wheel set, had to be designed. When evaluating the project work, the focus was placed on the components of the gearbox, the clutch, and the brake wheel set system.

This task was set for students in the bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering at Clausthal University of Technology. The challenging project on machine elements brings together the content taught in a wide variety of courses, e.g., machine elements, technical mechanics, component testing, materials science, and technical drawing.

Students Mohamed Abdrabbo and Arne Ballmann implemented the requirements in a very convincing manner. They were awarded a certificate and a small gift by the Scientific Association for their creative and professional approach.

The Scientific Association of the IMW consists of former doctoral students and employees of the institute. The aim of the association is to promote scientific exchange and support young researchers. Founded in 1995, the association holds an annual meeting with a scientific colloquium. The event features presentations on the institute's research, Clausthal University of Technology, and topics from industry. Through its annual awards, the association aims to encourage constructive activity among students at Clausthal University of Technology.
