We had an engaging and insightful start to the semester at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMW), TU Clausthal, as we welcomed our new cohort of Master’s students in Intelligent Manufacturing.
The session began with an introduction to the university and course structure, helping students understand the exciting learning journey ahead. This was followed by an icebreaker activity, during which students shared their cultures, backgrounds, and interests, setting a warm and collaborative tone for the semester.
To introduce systems thinking early on, students worked in groups to explore the 9 Window Systems Analysis Method — a powerful tool in systems engineering that helps visualise a system’s evolution across time and hierarchy. This hands-on exercise encouraged them to think critically about interconnections and innovation in complex manufacturing systems.
The day concluded with an institute tour, giving students a glimpse of the labs, research facilities, and vibrant environment that will support their academic and professional growth.
We are excited to see how these young minds will contribute to shaping the future of intelligent and sustainable manufacturing!
